Today we had the pleasure of speaking with Andrezza Façanha, Head Coach of the Andrezza Façanha Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy, located in Coral Springs, Florida. Opened on November 26, 2024, this academy stands out as one of the few in the United States named after a woman and led by a woman—reflecting Andrezza’s mission to promote inclusion and female empowerment in martial arts.
When Andrezza moved from Manaus, Brazil to the United States ten years ago, she brought with her a degree in physical therapy, many dreams, and a passion that had been with her for years: Jiu-Jitsu. Her original goal was clear—she wanted to work as a physical therapist, the profession she loved. But life, much like Jiu-Jitsu itself, has its own paths and surprises.
It was on American mats that new opportunities began to open. Gradually, Andrezza moved from behind the scenes in rehabilitation to taking center stage as a coach. With over 25 years of martial arts experience, a 4th-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, multiple world titles—including IBJJF and No-Gi—and a professional, charismatic presence, she quickly gained recognition and was invited to teach at various academies across the U.S.
Now, her biggest dream has come true: her own academy. Built in partnership with her husband, Edgar Estevez (a brown belt and accomplished competitor), and joined by their daughter, Maria Martins (a blue belt with years of training), the academy is a family project from the heart. More than just a training space, it’s a place of community, dedication, and shared values.
The Andrezza Façanha Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy offers a wide range of martial arts classes including Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Judo, and Women’s Self-Defense. Classes are available for all ages and skill levels, from the tiny “Baby Samurais” (ages 3 and up) to adult programs—making it the perfect place for the whole family.
Located in the heart of Coral Springs at 5659 Coral Ridge Drive, the academy prides itself on being a welcoming and family-friendly environment. The sense of unity and community flows through every detail—from the way classes are run to the support offered to each student, regardless of their background or goals.
For those looking to start or continue their martial arts journey in a space that values inclusivity, professionalism, and heart, Andrezza’s academy is a standout choice.
